What’s your personal impact?

What's your personal impact?

What do you think people notice about you when you enter a room?

Write down several words that convey the impression you think you make. Use the following criteria to help you:

  • Facial expression
  • Voice
  • Words
  • Walk/posture
  • Body language
  • Dress/grooming
  • Energy level

Then ask other people who know you, and who you trust, to write down what impression they think you make. Compare your views and the views of others. How accurately do you see yourself? What do you need to do to make a more powerful impact? What is the first step you can take to make this change?

The ‘best you’

Relax, close your eyes and imagine that you can see the best possible version of yourself standing in front of you. Notice how the โ€˜best youโ€™ looks, stands, speaks and behaves. What words and phrases does the โ€˜best youโ€™ use? Now, imagine stepping into the โ€˜best youโ€™ and experience how it feels to live as your best self. Take some time to enjoy the experience. Come back to the here-and-now and ask yourself:

  • What did I learn from this?
  • What do I need to do to become my best self?
  • What do I need to believe to become my best self?
  • What do I need to say to myself?
  • How different would things be if I lived my life in this way?

Your positive personal brand

To develop a sense of your own personal brand, ask yourself the following questions. Answer them without any false modesty:

  • What do you do better than anyone else?
  • What do people come to you for?
  • What do you want to be known for?
  • What is unique about you?
  • What ignites your passion?
  • What are the things that matter to you?
  • If your life were a film, which actor would you choose to play you?
