2020 has been a tough year.
Many people have lost their jobs, had to close their businesses or are under high levels of stress due to uncertainty and career frustration.
How is it possible to find any sense of purpose and fullfilment when the ever changing restrictions are not only destroying the economy but also having a dramatic impact on people’s well-being and motivation?
Well, let me tell you that from the most difficult situations, arise the best opportunities for change and growth. And it’s in moments like this that reconnecting with your purpose and following your call becomes crucial.
The world needs awaken and brave people like you to start following their calls and do some good on this earth!
We all come here for a reason. Spending 40 years in jobs you hate only because someone needs to pay the bills is NOT what you came here for.
Every one of us has unique gifts, skills and talents and there is nothing more rewarding than using them to be of service to others.
But one of the main problems is that we tend to think that we need to choose between having a meaningful and fulfilling career OR making money.
I know you might feel completely demotivated and frustrated to believe this, but trust me, it is totally possible to find work you love and turn your career into a source of fulfillment and happiness. (Yes, despite the global crisis).
It is all about getting clarity on your direction and having the tools to stay motivated and keep working towards your goals no matter what.
So how can I find my life purpose?
Getting clarity on your purpose is not easy. So if you have tried to find ‘your thing’ with no luck so far, you are not the only one.
We live in a world where most people value money and power over fulfillment and ethics. That’s not a good start. Most messages you hear around (in commercials, social media, propaganda, etc.) will be about how being rich, attractive and powerful is the only way to success.
We are brainwashed with the idea that we need to find a ‘proper job’ and leave our dreams and passions behind or we will starve. How sad (and not true) is that?!
So even though connecting with your passion can be very difficult with all this programming, it is totally possible and I want to give you some of the tools I’ve used myself and with my clients to help you find and follow your life purpose:
1.Give yourself time for self-discovery and make it a priority.
Here are some journaling prompts that you can use to get clarity:
What did you want to be when you grew up when you were a kid?
What did you love doing as a child?
What has been your favourite part of your career so far and why?
Who do you admire the most and why?
If you could solve one problem for a person, group of people or a company, what would that be?
What were your natural talents and strengths at school? And now?
What makes time fly?
Which of your talents or skills would you like to share with others?
2.Work on your beliefs around career and money.
Most people believe that they can’t be abundant, that is impossible to enjoy work or that they don’t deserve to be successful.
Here is an article with exercises you can use to identify and remove limiting beliefs that might be holding you back.
3.Believe in yourself.
Self-confidence is key! I’ve met so many talented and gifted people that were wasting their skills on irrelevant jobs because they never believed they could do anything else!
When you believe in yourself, the sky is the limit. When you feel confident and empowered, literally nothing can stop you. Clarity, determination and self-confidence is a recipe that can only bring success.
The best thing is that anyone can improve their self-confidence, it is about having the right tools and guidance!
Use this exercise to get a career confidence booster, this is one of my favourite tools ever.
4.Connect with your intuition.
The best decisions come from your intuition, your higher self, your sixth sense, your ‘gut feeling’, ‘that voice inside that knew that wasn’t right for me…’ You know what I mean.
Many people think logic is the only tool we should use to assess a situation and make decisions, but I think that if we do so, we are missing the most important part of ourselves – our soul’s guidance.
So start meditating even if it’s a few minutes a day, sit in stillness and spend more time ‘within’.
Listen to that inner voice that know what’s right for you.
I hope that was useful!
