Personal change is never easy to achieve, even when it is willingly entertained and pursued. Our beliefs form behaviour and behaviour form habits which can be hard to shift once settled. Self-awareness and a willingness to consider different ways of engaging with life’s ups and downs is vital to progressing wished for change.
An issue that I observe is that people can forget to enjoy the little successes along the way which is unfortunate as it can make all the difference to maintaining momentum when things get tough. Here’s a simple approach that can help you avoid this trap:
- What is working well for me?
- What have I learnt today?
- Knowing what I now know, what might I do differently tomorrow?
- What would change for me if I acted upon this?
Now consider: what’s the first small thing you can do to gift yourself the possibility of a brighter future?
